Successful 2008 Golf Outing | ||
Dutch Valley Foods would like to thank all of the sponsors for the 1st Annual Firemen's Golf Classic on October 1, 2008. The day was a tremendous success! There were 32 foursomes enjoying great food, fun and fellowship. The event started with a light lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs, two pasta salads, and potato salad. At the sound of the horn, the golfers started the scramble format with numerous opportunities for prizes. The Pot of Gold (split half the proceeds), Longest Putt (Putter), Straightest Drive (Hybrid Club), Hole in one - 3 chances ($100,000, Airline Tickets and Callaway club or irons), Closest to the pin - 3 chances (Titliest Wedge, Golf balls/Hat, Srixon Wedge) and Men and Women's Longest Drive (Hybrid Club). As the day on the greens wrapped up, the Keystone Hook and Ladder #1 Fire Department hoisted a custom container holding 1,000 numbered golf balls up over 30 feet in their Extension Ladder Truck. Upon the countdown, the balls were dropped over the green to see which golf balls would hit either in the hole or closest to the hole. The balls were sold to raise additional monies as a part of the day's events. Fred Howdyshell won first prize, $2,000.00, Travel Voucher, Joseph Blackwell won second prize, $1,000.00 Travel Voucher and third prize, $500.00 cash was awarded to Mark Shaffer. The day wrapped up with an excellent dinner including; Roasted Turkey Breast, Slow Roasted Pork Loin, Pasta Stations, Shrimp and Chicken Stir Fry, Tenderloin Tips Marsala, White Rice, Cheese, Fruit and Vegetable Displays, Salad Bar and Assorted Mini Desserts.
