Steel Cut Oat Groats come from the inner most part of the oat kernel and have a nutty taste and a chewy texture. These oat groats are more natural and nutrient packed than rolled oats because they undergo minimal processing. Cooking time is longer for these oats than rolled oats and can be used in soups and stews as well as breads and baked goods. Each case consists of fifty pounds.

Recipes
Oat Groats (Steel Cut)
Bring 4 cups water to a brisk boil. Add 1 cup oatmeal & stir well. When oatmeal begins to thicken,reduce heat & simmer uncovered for 30 min. stirring occasionally. Do not over cook! Quick soak method: Boil 4 cups water. Turn off heat & add 1 cup oatmeal. Cover & leave overnight. Next morning cook on low 9-12 min.
Stir occasionally. Makes 4 servings.
