Maintenance Manager

Job Summary:
The Maintenance Manager will lead the site maintenance and sanitation functions in providing both a reactive and proactive, multi-skilled maintenance and sanitation service on all operational equipment and facilities infrastructure. This individual will be responsible for planning and scheduling all maintenance and sanitation activities and their timely completion. This individual will assist in increasing site operational effectiveness, reduce equipment downtime, manage & implement improvement plans, ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are followed. The Maintenance Manager will direct the team on technical best practice and establish standard policies and procedures. He/she will implement and manage continuous improvement projects and recommend changes in training, working practices and processes.
Functional Responsibilities:
  • Schedule, train, supervise and motivate maintenance & sanitation department employees
  • Coordinate work performed by outside vendors
  • Oversee outside sanitation company performance
  • Ensure efficient repair schedules and review repair cost estimates
  •  Prioritize the maintenance and repairs of company equipment and parts
  • Control and monitor spare parts inventory
  • Implement safety policies and procedures for the department
  • Manage and maintain the facility and facility projects
  • Direct the activities of maintenance and sanitation teams to meet priorities within the department
  • Set up and follow a preventive and predictive maintenance program
  • Manage all machine uptime and downtime
  • Maintain and monitor necessary purchases of equipment to meet the production schedule
  • Assist in the compliance of GMP and SQF
  • Develop and manage the expense budget assigned to the department
  • Assist in specifying, procuring and installation of new equipment or equipment reconfiguration
  • Oversee both day and nights shifts
  • Overtime and weekends may be required
Required Knowledge, Skills and Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred or extensive plant level experience with significant proven management experience (7-10 years Management experience preferred)
  • Technical capability and understanding
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing
  • Experience of managing Profit and Loss (P&L) responsibilities for maintenance
  • Strong knowledge of engineering concepts, including electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications and schematics
  • Effective interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task effectively
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
