Not Your Grandma’s Beef Goulash is a cozy, modern casserole packed with extra-wide egg noodles, seasoned ground beef, mushrooms, and onions, all baked in a rich spaghetti sauce and topped with melty mozzarella. It’s simple, hearty, and perfect for an easy crowd-pleasing dinner.

Ingredients
  • 16 ounces Jake & Amos X-Wide Egg Noodles (SKU 444722)
  • 1 1/2 to 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1/2 lb sliced mushrooms
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 (28 oz) jar spaghetti sauce
  • 1 envelope dry onion soup mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup (4 ounces) mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Coat a 3-quart casserole dish with cooking spray.
  2. Start by cooking egg noodles in 3-4 quarts salted boiling water with 2 tablespoons of oil for 12-15 minutes or until desired tenderness. Rinse and drain, set aside.
  3. Next, in a large skillet, brown ground beef, mushrooms and onion until no pink remains in the beef, stirring frequently. Drain off excess liquid then add cooked noodles and all remaining ingredients except cheese; mix well.
  4. Place mixture in prepared casserole dish, cover, and bake 25 minutes. Remove from oven and top with mozzarella cheese and bake, uncovered, 15 minutes, or until cheese has melted.
